WELCOME!

This blog shares the happenings of Chris, Lacey and Reese O'Donnell. We didn't used to have that much to say about ourselves which is why posts were few and far between, but now we have a little person that will give us a lot to talk about. The blog will also feature Lacey's Random Finds - event planning, paper love, pretty crafty things, etc.

ENJOY!

Snow Day

Northern Virginia got about 5 inches of snow this week, but as you know - that shuts things DOWN around here! So...Chris was off of work and we had a snow day on Thursday. The bummer is, we lost power and had to bundle up. Reese is clearly thrilled about her getup - lots of layers - tights, shirts, sweats. Oh, and socks on her hands! :)

Reese - TWO MONTHS

Reese turned two months old this week. She is getting so big! Here are some things about her this month:

* She smiles! (see below) And its awesome. She was in a great mood when we took these pictures so we got a great range of faces.
* She talks - well, coos. She says goo, ger, gurgle, ah. She responds when you talk to her too.
* She holds her head up really well. The doctor tried her on her tummy and Reese showed off - getting up on her arms and looking around. The doctor said she was doing great and had the strength of a 4 month old.
* She had a little bit of baby acne (on schedule) but it went away quickly and she is back to having perfect skin.
* She focuses and tracks well with her eyes - watching people, toys, and things
* She gets a lot of attention everywhere we go.
* She weighs 11 pounds and 14 oz (73rd percentile) and is 23 1/2 inches long (85th percentile).
* We have a crush on her!

Saturday Morning with Reese

This is how we spend mornings around here lately. Awesome, right?

Meeting the Ramseys

Throughout my pregnancy, one of the people that was most excited - Avery Ramsey, age 4. She was awesome, asking a million questions, most importantly...Can I hold her when she comes out? So...Avery and her cute parents came over to meet Reese and Avery got to hold her. And now...Avery is going to get a baby at her house this summer. So exciting!

War Eagle

Reese's Aunt Colleen went to Auburn University and most years the family goes to whatever Bowl game they play in. This year they played in the championship, but really overpriced tickets and brand new babies kept us from going to AZ for the big game. But...it didn't keep us from dressing for the occasion. Here is Reese and her Daddy in Auburn orange. Too cute!

Heather Visits

My sister Heather came to visit this weekend. She couldn't wait for us to get to Utah to meet Reese, so she came to us. I am so grateful she took the time from her family and crazy busy life to spend some time with us. It was wonderful having her here!

SMILING!!!

It is official - she smiles. And talks (well... coos). It is seriously darling to watch her try and talk to us and flash that grin. LOVE IT. Here she is talkin and smilin.

Reese Goes to Philly

On New Years Day we took Reese to Philly - her first roadtrip. We weren't sure how she'd do, but lucky for us, she likes the car and slept the whole way.

We were happy that Heather and Mark were still in town from Boston and that Heather's mom was willing to have us over so that everyone could meet Reese. They are expecting in the Spring and we are so happy to have little buddies the same age.

The main reason we went to Philly was for the Cook Party - an annual holiday highlight. It was wonderful seeing everyone and having them meet Reese.

Package from Utah

Reese (and Chris and I) got a fun package from Utah from Grandma Rita and Grandpa Dave. She got my favorite childhood book - Rootie Kazootie. It was actually my Dad's from the 40's when he was a little boy. I requested it the minute I found out I was having a baby. She also got some toys and books and a great new pair of shoes and hair bow. Chris and I got some great gifts too!

Reese's First Christmas

Reese was too little to go to Utah for Christmas, so we stayed at home in Virginia. The O'Donnells and Paullets (Colleen and Greg) came to our house and we had a great time. They even got to stay longer than planned since there was a big snow storm in Philly that postponed the Cook party, and in Virginia Beach making it hard for them to get home.

Here is Reese with Grandpod. Like his name? He goes by POD so we thought Grandpod was a perfect thing to call him.

Here is Chris with Reese's stocking from Grandma Pat

Reese slept through the gift opening...but we are sure she loved her gifts!

Christmas Eve with the Lindseys

This year we spent Christmas Eve in Lovettsville with the Lindseys. They liked the Young family tradition of chinese food on Christmas Eve and it made me feel more at home.

Before bed, the girls hung their stockings and put out cookies and milk for Santa!

Reese - ONE MONTH

Little Miss is one month old (already!) I love the first pic because it looks as though she is showing us number one. Let's see if I can get her to put up two fingers next month! Here are some things about Reese this month:

* She was born (ok, you knew that one)
* She loves baths. eating, bouncing in her seat, rocking, etc
* She started sleeping through the night at 2.5 weeks (that should probably be listed first in all caps!!)
* She wants to be entertained (and there is only so much to entertain her with at this age). She loves something for a few minutes and then wants to move on to the next thing.
* At her one month check up she weighs 11 lbs (85th percentile) and is 23 inches long (97th percentile)
* She is on the verge of smiling
* She started focusing more. She now makes great eye contact, watches the fish spin on her mobile, and looks at black and white pictures.
* She makes us VERY happy!
